Jack & Coke – “The American Cocktail“
- 1 part Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7
- 3 parts Coca-Cola
So who better to write Coca-Cola a jingle then Jack White, who penned the 2006 tune “The Right Thing To Do” for the soft drink company. In esence, making a literal “Jack & Coke“…
Coca-Cola who also shares The White Stripes red-and-white color scheme even filmed a commercial similar to The Stripes “The Hardest Button To Button” video. The commercial only ran one time. Here is the pretty awesome full length version of “The Right Thing To Do“.
White, who before this had been weary of licensing songs for brand ads said,
“I certainly wouldn’t want a song that I’d already written to be used on a commercial, That seems strange. [But] to be asked to write something particular along one theme of love in a worldwide form that I’m not really used to appealed to me.”
A few years later in the movie “It Might Get Loud“, White gave Coca-Cola some free advertisement by making guitar a bad ass guitar out of a Coke bottle.
UPDATE: Isn’t this ironic??? I saw this Share a Coke with Meg while checking out of the grocery store…
