Dee Dee died of an accidental heroin overdose, according to this final report from the Los Angeles coroner's office. The Ramones co-founder had a long history of heroin abuse. Police responding to a 911 call on June 5 found a syringe with "possible drug residue" and five balloons with "possible drug contents" in his Hollywood apartment. Ramone's wife found the 50 year old lying face down on a couch unresponsive at 8:25 p.m. He was pronounced dead 15 minutes later when paramedics arrived.
Anybody that knows Hollywood has driven by the apartment building hundreds of times as it is just down the street from The Hollywood Bowl right off of Highland.
