Ronnie Van Zant’s Neil Young Shirt On Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Street Survivors” Album Cover

There has always been great debate about the rivalry between Neil Young and Lynyrd Skynyrd.  The song “Sweet Home Alabama” even has some harsh lyrics aimed directly at  Neil Young.

Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don’t need him around anyhow

I’m sure it was a sarcastic gesture but Ronnie Van Zant is wearing a Neil Young t-shirt on the album cover of “Street Survivors“.

The shirt Ronnie is wearing is from Young’s 1975 album “Tonight’s The Night“.  “Street Survivors” was released in 1977.

Doesn’t seem like Van Zant hated Neil Young that badly.  You be the judge, check out this blog that breaks down the rivalry…
