In the music video for Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing In The Dark“, The Boss plucks a “surprised” fan out of the crowd to dance with him onstage.
This tom-boyish looking fan is a young 20 year old Courtney Cox.
The video was filmed in June 27, 1984 at the St. Paul Civic Center in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. Cox was paid $350 for her part in the now classic video and it served as her first “Big Break” as the video was on heavy rotation on MTV.
Director Brian DePalma filmed parts of the video in an empty arena with a few extras. The next day Springsteen performed the song live twice in front of a live audience with cameras rolling. Here’s a cool photo of Springsteen & Cox with director DePalma filming in the empty stadium.
