Mad Season “Above” Album Cover Based On Photo Of Layne Staley And Girlfriend Demri Parrott

Mad Season was a a short-lived Seattle super group featuring Alice in Chains’ Layne Staley and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready with bassist John Baker Saunders and Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin filling out the groups line-up.  The band only recorded one album “Above” which was released on March 14, 1995.  The album cover featured an illustration by Staley based on a photograph of him and his girlfriend Demri Parrott (who is not the girl on the cover of the Alice in Chain album “Dirt”).

Layne changed my life with his insightful and surreal music and lyrics. I only wished he could have stuck around to make more to listen to for future generations. I was compelled to compose a portrait of him In Memoriam recently on the anniversary of his death on my artist’s blog at dregstudiosart.blogspot.com Drop in and tell me your memories of his music and how it’s affected you.
