Rockers Billy Corgan and Tom Morello are huge fans of the Chicago Cubs baseball team but Eddie Vedder might be the biggest Cubbies fan in the rock world. Vedder has attended the Cubs fantasy camp for several years and has even written a song about the Cubs. Here’s some photo’s of Vedder at the 2011 Cubs Fantasy in Mesa, Arizona.
Vedder grew up in San Diego, California but was born in 1965 in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois and has been a life-long fan.
Eddie even released a song in 2008 called “All The Way” which fondly looks forward to the Cubs’ next World Series victory, was written with the encouragement of Cubs Hall of Famer Ernie Banks. Vedder sings,
“Someday we’ll go all the way, Yeah, someday we’ll go all the way”.
Apparently the song pissed off fellow Cubbie fanatic Billy Corgan who criticized Vedder and the song. At a Smashing Pumpkins concert on November 20, 2008 at the Chicago Theatre he said,
“If the Cubs did have a chance this last year that just passed, fuckin’ Eddie Vedder killed that shit dead. Last I checked Eddie ain’t living here, okay? Eddie ain’t living here to write a song about my fuckin’ team.”
WOW!!! I wonder who the biggest fan.
