Elvis Costello Playing Paul McCartney’s “Detroit Red Wings” Acoustic Guitar Upside Down

On June 1, 2010 Paul McCartney was presented the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song by President Barack Obama at the White House.

McCartney performed and other artists including Stevie Wonder, Jack White, Dave Grohl and Elvis Costello covered some McCartney classics.  I could not find the video of to go with the following photo but it’s Elvis Costello playing McCartney’s Famous Epiphone Texan Acoustic Guitar with the Detroit Red Wings sticker.

What makes it really cool is that Costello is playing the guitar right handed (McCartney is left-handed) so the string are upside down.  That takes some talent.  Here’s a photo of Costello at the Award Ceremony in the same outfit above.

Costello did a great cover version of Penny Lane (on his own guitar).

PLEASE NOTE: The trumpet solo by a member of the U.S. Marine band.  On point and amazing!!!
