Paul McCartney Releases The John Bonham Version of “Beware My Love”

“Beware My Love” is a song credited to Paul and Linda McCartney that was first released on the Wings 1976 album “Wings at the Speed of Sound”.  It was also used as the B-side of the single that included “Let ‘Em In“.  The drumming on the studio version of the “Beware My Love” was done by Wings drummer Joe English who played drums for Wings from 1975-1977.  There is English on the right holding the drumsticks…

On October 20, 2014 Paul McCartney announced on Twitter that he will release a new remastered version of “Wings at the Speed of Sound” that includes an early version of “Beware My Love” featuring none other than Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham on drums.  It sounds amazing!!!

Here’s the tweet with links and all…

The (Bonham version) of “Beware My Love” is not the only John Bonham/Paul McCartney collaboration. Bonham also played drums on two tracks “Rockestra Theme” & “So Glad To See You Here” from Wings’ final album, 1979’s “Back to the Egg”.  This photo below claims to be taken during the “Beware My Love” session but after some research, it’s actually from the “Back To The Egg” Rockestra session…

The other members of the “Rockestra” backing band included David Gilmour, Pete Townshend, John Bonham, John Paul Jones and many more.  Here are the “Back To The Egg” album cover credits…

I’m sure there will be some more details about the song and why the (Bonham version) was not used very soon.  I will keep you posted.
