Beastie Boys “Check Your Head” Album Cover Photo Location

The Beastie Boys classic third studio album “Check Your Head” was released on April 21, 1992, by Capitol Records. The photo used for the cover showed Ad-Rock, Mike D & MCA sitting on an inconspicuous street curb with their instrument in tow giving fans a clue on the musical direction of the album.

When asked about the exact location of the photo, photographer Glen E. Friedman told us,

“It’s on Franklin not far from the Capitol Records building in Hollywood”

After a bit of research and some help from a feelnumb.com reader Jill, we found the exact location of the “Check Your Head” album cover photo. The Beastie’s took the photo on Franklin Avenue under the Vine Street exit off of the southbound 101 freeway about a block away from the Capitol Records building.

The spot has become somewhat of a tent city of sorts for the homeless. Little do they know that they are posted up right where the B-Boys once sat for their album cover photo.

Here’s a close up photo of the exact spot, where you can still see the drainage hole that is behind Ad-Rock in the photo.
