I previously wrote about Dave Grohl’s epic cameo appearance in an episode of The X-Files and how Kurt Cobain was supposed to be in Quentin Tarantino classic Pulp Fiction.
In 2009, another member of Nirvana made a cameo appearance with the late Robin Williams in the black comedy “World’s Greatest Dad” written and directed by an old Nirvana friend comedian Bobcat Goldthwait. Krist Novoselic stars in a non-speaking role as a newsstand dealer.
Krist comforts Robin in the scene where Robin’s character breaks down and weeps in front of a rack full of porn because it reminds him of his son.
Here’s the emotional scene.
Goldthwait spoke at the press junket about asking Krist to be in the film and explaining the whole death-glorification plot this way:
“You know how sometimes when people die people reinvent them in a way because they want to make it about themselves and they lose sight of who the person really was and that they really were a real person, I don’t know if you can relate to that. …Krist simply nodded”
Bobcat and Nirvana go way back. He used to open up shows for Nirvana and even starred in the strange promo video for the release of “In Utero“.
