The Last Shadow Puppets, the supergroup formed by Arctic Monkeys lead singer Alex Turner and singer/songwriter Miles Kane released their second chart-topping album “Everything You’ve Come to Expect” on April 2, 2016.
Check out the title-free album cover.
The album cover is actually a photo taken by photographer Jack Robinson of legend Tina Turner (no relation to Alex) dancing. The photo was taken in November of 1969 in New York City. Check out the proof sheets of the photo session…
When asked about the album cover Alex Turner said Tina Turner gave them the thumbs up adding:
“I’ve got a few photos from that photo shoot she did at home. This guy put me on to these lost photos that were found after the photographer died. That just immediately clicked; it looked like a record cover [to me] even a long time before we’d written this record.”
I love it when artist pay homage to music icons. I caught The Last Shadow Puppets in Los Angeles where they paid homage to The Beatles by doing an awesome cover the “Abbey Road” track of “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”.
