Jack White’s Finger Surgery Video

In 2003 Jack White had a car accident and broke his finger, so The White Stripes had to cancel all their shows. To prove that he broke his finger they released this video on their website.

White was driving around his home town of Detroit, with then girlfriend Rene Zellwegger. He said, “This 75- to 80-year-old woman drove right out in the middle of the street, right in front of us,” White explained. “There was nothing I could do to get away from it. It was lucky that there was nobody seriously injured.” After making sure Rene and the other driver were both OK–he realized he was the one who was in trouble. “I looked down and saw my finger was just destroyed. I immediately thought, ‘That’s not going to be good, is it?.’ It was a multiple fracture which means it didn’t actually go through the skin but it shattered inside the finger. I can’t write, I can’t play piano, I can’t play guitar, I can’t do anything creative. I can’t even tie my shoes.”

The bones in his finger did not heal properly, forcing surgeons to install three bone-setting screws that will remain with him ”for life.”

Notice Jack’s cast in “The Hardest Button To Button” video.

Haunted: The Rave/Eagles Ballroom In Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The Rave/Eagles Ballroom

The_rave_eagles_ballroom_haunted_pool_wisconsin

Buddy Holly played one of his last gig on Jan. 23, 1959, at what is now the Rave/Eagles Club, Holly died a week later when his plane crashed after a show in Iowa. While no one knows for sure who is the reported ghost haunting the basement’s swimming pool—many musicians have reported hearing or seeing a presence—it’s nice to imagine it could be Mr. Holly.  In fact, on the upper level is a memorial to him: a pastel portrait, color photos and fliers from the shows in Milwaukee and Iowa.

The pool room (above) in the basement area; (which is said to be kept locked at all times) and The Eagles Ballroom are the most haunted rooms in the building, though paranormal activity has been reported all over the building.  “All the rock stars who have performed here have seen a ghost.” a worker was quoted as saying.  In various rooms of the club, bands have heard a presence or seen an entity watching them play in various rooms of the club, usually during rehearsal, or when not many people are around.

People hear voices coming from places where no one living is there.  Happy sounds of children playing or the distressful noise of children crying unhappily are heard as well.  An entity of a little girl roams around the old hallways behind the coat-check area in the basement.  Her laughter is heard. Her presence sometimes gives the living a brief sense of dread.  Staff who were cleaning up after closing hours have seen entities of children playing in a group.

The Ballroom hosts the most popular acts, and its impressive history includes Bob Dylan (six times), The White Stripes, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, Kings of Leon, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Pearl Jam to name a few….

“The Rave is officially not speculating on that. As far as we know, no rock stars have died here.”

The White Stripes Vs. United States Air Force Over “Fell In Love With Girl” Rip-Off

The White Stripes released this statement via www.thewhitestripes.com in regards to US Air Force commercial that aired during the Super Bowl.  The Stripes obviously claim that they believe their song “Fell In Love With A Girl“  had been “re-recorded and used without permission”.

The songs are just about identical.  Check it out…

The musician who composed the song featured on the US Air Force’s recent Super Bowl half-time advert, has apologised to the duo.   Kem Kraft has said that similarities between his instrumental advert song, aired on February 7 during the televised sporting event and Jack and Meg White’s 2002 hit were coincidental.  “I’m sorry it sounds the same,” Kraft told The New York Times. “It wasn’t my intention, truly, truly, truly.”  He also he hadn’t heard ‘Fell In Love With A Girl’ and “I had no idea there was similarity until after the fact.”

Jack White As Elvis Presley

If you haven’t seen the 2007 movie “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story” you are missing a cameo of The White Stripes, Jack White playing the role of Elvis Presley.  About his role White said, “John C Reilly called me up and asked if I would do it. They were filming in a couple of days,” explained White. “I said, ‘Okay, but what year is it supposed to be?’ He said 1957, so that was Okay. I thought it was just going to be for cable or something but he said, ‘Oh no, this is one of the biggest films this company is going to to put out this year.’ He sent the script over and it was really funny.”

He says, “It’s my favorite era of Elvis, around ‘56, and when John sent me the script I laughed out loud the whole way through.”, “It’s a parody of musical biopics and John C.Reilly plays this made up character who goes through these different periods and at one point he plays on a bill with Elvis Presley. And that’s me.”

Were Jack White And Meg White Married??? Or Brother & Sister As They Claim…

“Some people come up to us and say, “God, you guys really look like you’re brother and sister.” And we say, “That’s because we are!”

jack_white_meg_white_stripes_marriage_married_divorcewhite_stripes_meg_jack_marriage_divorce

Officially, the pair are the youngest two of 10 children but in reality, John “Jack” Anthony Gillis and local bartender Megan “Meg” Martha White were married on September 21, 1996, and in unorthodox fashion, he took White’s surname.

While the newly-christened Jack White continued to play in multiple bands, Meg White first began to learn to play the drums in 1997. In Jack White’s words, “When she started to play drums with me, just on a lark, it felt liberating and refreshing. There was something in it that opened me up”. The duo then became a band, calling themselves The White Stripes. They first performed publicly on July 14, 1997 at the Gold Dollar in Detroit. The couple divorced on March 24, 1999 and it’s unclear precisely when they began to call themselves brother and sister.

Holly Golightly, British singer-songwriter (who sang with them on “It’s True That We Love One Another“) said “They’re brother and sister as far as I’m concerned ~ and husband and wife.”

Jack White - “We will be brother and sister till the day we die,”

Jack White - “Everything apart from the music is a trick.”

Neither addresses the truth officially and over time, they have become less verbal about the origins of their relationship. Jack White has said, though, that siblings are “mated for life”, and thus such relationships distract less from the music. Both have since remarried Jack White married British model Karen Elson in 2005 and Meg White married musician Jackson Smith in 2009.

Jack White Love Coca-Cola So Much He Wrote Them A Jingle…

jack_white_coke

Jack White penned his first ad jingle titled “The Right Thing To Do“, for his longtime favorite caffeinated soft drink of choice, Coca-Cola which shares his band’s trademark red-and-white color scheme.

The band had previously eschewed licensing songs for brand ads. White said, “I certainly wouldn’t want a song that I’d already written to be used on a commercial”. He added, “That seems strange. [But] to be asked to write something particular along one theme of love in a worldwide form that I’m not really used to appealed to me.”

This ad ran one-time only and here is the full length version.
