As the story goes “first hand”…Taylor Hawkins and friends were at a Mexican Restaurant before a show for one of his side projects, a bad ass 70’s rock cover band called Chevy Metal. A guy came up to Taylor and asked him if he was the guy from The Goo Goo Dolls so as a joke later that day they added The Goo Goo Dolls to his drum kit.

Also, with the Foo Fighters, Taylor sometimes plays a drum kit with Captain Beyond on it in reference to the 70’s rock band.
