Lemmy of Motörhead was featured as a limousine driver in the Foo Fighters 2011 music video for the song “White Limo”. Even though the video show Lemmy driving the limo, he actually needed to use a stunt driver (Wiley Hodgden) because he in fact had never had a drivers license.
The Kurt Cobain Urinal Photobomb!!! Most likely taken in 1989, this Nirvana “Bleach” era photo of Cobain taking a leak and still photobombing Jonathan Poneman (the co-founder of Sub Pop) and Matt Lukin of Mudhoney is an instant classic.
In 1993, Nirvana filmed their award winning video for the release of the “Heart Shaped Box” single. At the time, the little girl in the video was rumored to be Cobain’s younger half-sister from his mom’s side named Breanne (Brieann) O’Connor.
The latest trend in Rock N’ Roll is to get a tattoo of your recently deceased music idol. Dave Grohl went out and got an “Ace of Spades” tattoo to honor Lemmy & Flea took to his official Instagram to show off his newest tattoo dedicated to Bowie.
In 2009, another member of Nirvana made a cameo appearance with the late Robin Williams in the black comedy “World’s Greatest Dad” written and directed by an old Nirvana friend comedian Bob Goldthwait. Krist Novoselic stars in a non-speaking role as a newsstand dealer.
In 1987-1988 songwriters Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee from Glasgow, Scotland known as The Vaselines released 2 EP records with a combined total of 7 songs. Of those 7 songs mega-fan Kurt Cobain would cover 3 of them with Nirvana. Cobain labelled the duo his, “favorite songwriters in the whole world”.
Check out this iPhone video I recorded of Grohl speaking about the influence of The Beatles as a band and of Ringo Starr’s influence on his own drumming. It’s a great straight from the heart unscripted question and answer about Ringo…
WTF??? It seems to be a really bad time in the music industry for rock stars named David. First, David Evans better known as “The Edge” of U2 fell off the stage in Vancouver, Canada. Another David, Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters tripped and fell off stage during a concert in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Dave Grohl on his Black Flag tattoo: “When I was 12 or 13, I gave myself a Black Flag tattoo, prison style, with a needle and pen ink.” Years later Grohl didn’t forget about his childhood heroes and paid homage to Black Flag by playing a Dan Armstrong Luctie Guitar.
In September 2007, Gibson introduced the DG-335, designed in collaboration with Foo Fighter Dave Grohl. Since it’s introduction, this is pretty much the only guitar Grohl plays on stage. B.B. King had “Lucille”, Dave Grohl has “Lou”.
