This photo is the last photo of John Lennon and George Harrison together. It was taken at the Troubador nightclub in Los Angeles, California in mid November of 1974.
I look through thousands of photos of musicians, bands, guitars, etc, daily. As I was going through photos of the solo years of George Harrison, I kept seeing photos of him wearing a “FRANCE” shirt pop-up.
The cover art for George Harrison’s 1988 “When We Was Fab” single uses Harrison’s likeness from The Beatles “Revolver” album. You can even see the ER at the end of Revolver under Harrison’s right ear.
At the height of Beatlemania, The Beatles song “She Loves You” was parodied in an episode of The Flinstones. In episode “The Hatrocks and The Gruesomes” that first aired on January 22, 1965.
From May 20 to May 28, 1960, The Silver Beetles (as they were called at the time) toured Scotland, backing a young musician named Johnny Gentle. As part of this tour, the whole band decided to give themselves pseudonyms. Dee Dee then came up with the idea of naming the new band the Ramones and convinced the other members of the band to start using Ramone as their last name.
Pete Best, The Beatles original drummer was replaced by Ringo Starr on August 16, 1962. To commemorate his sacking, 20 years later on April 6, 1982, Best sported this “I’m Not Ringo” shirt for a photo shoot.
Today The Beatles celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the release of their first single “Love Me Do/P.S. I Love You” on EMI’s Parlophone label. The serial number for the release was 45-R 4949.
George Harrison married Patti Boyd on January 21, 1966 in a ceremony at the Registry Office, in Esher, Surrey, South England. Paul McCartney and The Beatles manager Brian Epstein served as co-best men at the event.
On February 21, 1975, John Lennon released an album of late 1950’s and early 1960’s covers called “Rock ‘n’ Roll”. The album cover features a 1961 photo of Lennon in a doorway in Hamburg, Germany with three blurry figures walking past him in the foreground.
When The Beatles “Yellow Submarine” animated film was in production, there had been discussions about having each Beatle voice his own character but The Beatles had a lot going on at the time and it proved impossible to get all four into the studio together for the recording sessions.
