Well, on September 23, 1991 the day before Nirvana would release “Nevermind”, Nirvana and The Pumpkins were booked to play Boston’s FM 101.7 WFNX Birthday Bash at Axis Nightclub.

Nirvana filmed the video for “Smells Like Teen Spirit” on August 17, 1991. For the video shoot, Dave Grohl used a special bass drum that had “CHAKA” written on it, leaving many people to wonder what “Chaka” meant. Here’s a screen shot from the video…
On August 17 1991, Nirvana shot the video for ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ below at GMT Studios in Culver City, California, on soundstage number 6 with the shoot starting at noon and lasting the entire day.
When Nirvana was asked to perform their new hit single, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” on England’s Top of the Pops television program, they were asked by show executives to sing live to an instrumental backing track of the song. Nirvana refused and asked to play live, but the show executives would not let them. As a result, Nirvana turned in one of their most memorable performances ever.
In 1993, Wal-Mart adopted a policy of not carrying any objectionable materials in their stores. While they continued to sell guns, cigarettes and movies (containing bad language, sex and violence) they made many musicians alter their albums before they would sell them, resulting in “clean” and “dirty” versions of many albums.
Nirvana’s last show was on March 1, 1994 at Terminal 1 in Munich, Germany. Terminal 1 was the international airport of Munich, Germany until it was closed down on May 16, 1992, the day before the new airport opened. SInce then it has been used for concerts and raves.
