The Foo Fighters released their third studio album “There Is Nothing Left To Lose” on November 2, 1999. The album cover is a photo of the back of Dave Grohl’s neck featuring his permanent FF logo tattoo.
In 2001 the album was re-released in Australia as a two-CD edition but with a totally different album cover. The Australian edition has a photo of Australian Olympic swimmer Michael Klim wearing a temporary “FF” tattoo on his arm during a race.
Australian Version
Early pressings of the “There Is Nothing Left To Lose” included the temporary tattoo similar to Grohl’s. This is what Klim used on his arm.
Klim’s temp FF tattoo is also featured on the back cover of the Australian version.
Grohl discusses how the alternate cover came about at around the 8:00 mark in this interview from 2002. Check it out…
