The White Stripes “White Blood Cells” Album Released As “Redd Blood Cells” With Bass Overdubbed

The White Stripes released the album “White Blood Cells” on July 3, 2001.  In typical White Stripes fashion the album features Jack White on guitar and vocals and Meg White on drums.  No bass…

In the summer of 2002, Redd Kross bassist Steven Shane McDonald created an online-only project, “Redd Blood Cells,” in which he added a bass track to the bass-less album.  He also added background harmonies and ad-libs.

The White Stripes arranged with McDonald to take the files down after more than 60,000 downloads.  Word spread quickly and after 60,000 downloads the files were removed from his website.  Search REDD BLOOD CELLS on torrent sites as it is still floating around the internet.
