Eddie Van Halen Confirms His Guitar “Noise” Was Used In The Movie Back To The Future

In the movie Back To The Future, Marty McFly uses a walkman and a cassette tape labelled Edward Van Halen to scare his father George McFly into thinking he is a being from the future.  He does this in order to convince his father George to ask his mother Lorraine to the Enchantment Under the Sea dance.

Here’s the “Silence Earthlings” clip from Back To The Future

In 2012, after years of speculation Eddie Van Halen confirmed to TMZ that the guitar shredding on the tape is him indeed saying, it was him “just playing a bunch of noise.”  Check it out…

After doing a bit of research, the song is not “Eruption” by Van Halen as many people have claimed.  A few have also claimed it a song called “Donut City” from a score Eddie Van Halen did for the movie “The Wild Life” but I did not hear simalarities between the two.  Like Eddie said, it’s probably just “noise”.
