Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon really loved Pearl Jam. Check out this cool photo of Hoon wearing a Pearl Jam “Mookie Blaylock” shirt on stage.
Part One of Rock Star Yearbook photos series. Tom Morello, Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, Billy Corgan, Anthony Kiedis & Prince. Enjoy…
Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam loves his wine. He always walks out on stage with his notebook in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other. In a recent interview in Rolling Stone magazine, Vedder was asked about the wine he drinks on stage. He only admitted it was red.
This is the first taped performance in 1989 of Eddie Vedder with his then band Bad Radio performing the song “Better Man,” which of course would become a Pearl Jam classic five years later on the Vitology album. The lyrics and arrangement are almost exactly the same as the Pearl Jam version.
Vedder once wrote “Fuhgawz” on his shirt just before a photo shoot, intentionally misspelling the word Fugazi, which is a punk band from Washington, DC. Kurt who didn’t like Pearl Jam did this to basically make fun of Vedder.
Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder sports a tattoo of a crossed tomahawk and a wrench on his right calf. This tattoo is the logo of Earth First, a radical environmental group.
There are two versions of almost the same song by two different groups but the groups are almost one in the same. Sounds complicated doesn’t it???
Here’s a cool photo of Eddie Vedder walking down the street with guitar in hand… Dave Grohl Walking Down The Street
On April 16, 1994 11 days after Kurt Cobain’s suicide, Pearl Jam appeared on Saturday Night Live. During “Daughter,” Eddie Vedder pulled back his jacket to reveal a large “K” written on his t-shirt.
Pearl Jam originally took the name Mookie Blaylock, in reference to the then-active All-Star basketball player. After signing to Epic Records, the label was concerned about trademark issues so the band changed their name to Pearl Jam.
